About the Role
We are building a scalable marketplace platform (listings, vendors, discovery, transactions). We are looking for a hands-on backend lead with strong C#/.NET expertise who can design systems, guide development, and ensure long-term quality.
This is an AI-assisted development environment, where architecture, judgment, and code quality matter more than raw coding speed.
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend systems using C# / .NET (ASP.NET Core)
Define architecture for:
- listings and catalog
- search and discovery
- user/vendor systems
- transaction workflows
- checkout flow
- Establish clear system boundaries and API design
- Guide and review AI-generated code for correctness and maintainability
- Identify edge cases, performance risks, and failure scenarios
- Collaborate with frontend teams (React / Next.js / React Native)
- Mentor engineers and maintain engineering standards
AI-Driven Development Environment
- AI is used heavily for code generation and iteration
Your role is to:
- define guardrails and architecture
- review and validate generated code
- ensure systems remain scalable and maintainable
- You are accountable for system quality, not just output speed
Requirements
- 6–10+ years of backend development experience
Strong expertise in:
- C# / .NET (ASP.NET Core)
- API design (REST)
- relational databases (PostgreSQL / SQL Server)
Solid understanding of:
- system design and scalability
- data consistency and concurrency
- debugging and problem-solving
What We’re Looking For
- Strong engineering fundamentals (non-negotiable)
- Ability to reason about systems and trade-offs
- Comfortable working with and critically evaluating AI-generated code
- Ownership mindset — takes responsibility for system outcomes
- Experience in ecommerce, marketplace, SaaS, or fintech systems
Nice to Have
Experience with:
- Redis (caching), Elasticsearch
- messaging systems (Kafka / RabbitMQ)
- Keycloak, Strapi, Elsa Workflows
- Grafana, Prometheus monitoring

- Not a CRUD-only development role
- Not for engineers without system design experience
- Not for those who depend on AI without deep understanding

Must Have
- Bachelor Degree or Higher
- Passion for software products
- Perfect written English
- Highly creative and autonomous
- Valid work permit for Belgium

- Experience in writing online content
